On Oct. 6, Israel appeared on the cusp of a new era of recognition from the Muslim world, close to a peace deal with Saudi Arabia that would move it to the center of a realigned Middle East after years on its fringes. The historic conflict with the Palestinians that had defined its existence for most of its 75-year history appeared to have finally receded into the background.
It all changed on Oct. 7.
In six months, the world has turned upside down for this small nation. On Oct. 7--or Black Sabbath, as Israelis now call it--the Jewish state experienced a fundamental shock that upended its sense of security and belief in the strength of its military.

Most economists and investors tend to pay very little attention to M2 money supply because it's grown with such consistency over time. Since the U.S. economy expands over long periods, it's only natural that more cash and coins are needed to complete transactions.
But in those extremely rare instances where a notable contraction in M2 money supply has been observed, trouble has historically followed for the U.S. economy and stock market.
It's also the first meaningful move lower anyone has witnessed in M2 since the Great Depression.

Unless AI is restrained, “in the worst-case scenario, democracy and social order could collapse, resulting in wars,” the manifesto said.

U.S. stocks tumbled to a lower close on Wednesday after hotter-than-expected inflation data threw cold water on hopes that the Federal Reserve would begin cutting interest rates as early as June.
All three major U.S. stock indexes veered sharply lower at the opening bell after the Labor Department's Consumer Price Index (CPI) report landed north of consensus, a reminder that inflation's road back down to the Fed's 2% target will remain a long and meandering one.

Shohei Ohtani’s longtime interpreter Ippei Mizuhara has been charged with unlawfully transferring $16 million from the baseball superstar’s bank account in order for Mizuhara to place bets with an illegal bookmaker in California.
The criminal complaint says that Mizuhara controlled access to the bank account where Ohtani’s MLB paychecks were deposited. Mizuhara is accused of impersonating Ohtani in phone calls to the bank where the account was held, along with changing the contact information on the account to direct to his own phone number and email address.

Eleni Myrivili, who serves as the global CHO for the U.N.’s human settlement program, said she believes that extreme heat is an often-overlooked problem because it lacks the visible drama of roofs being ripped from homes or streets being turned into rivers.
