Nvidia unveiled a new artificial intelligence model for robots and vision AI agents on Wednesday, deepening its push into the physical AI market in Japan.
The regional expansion takes center stage during Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s two-day visit to Japan, where the Silicon Valley chip giant is expanding its physical AI footprint by forming a coalition that local industrial giants, including Fujitsu, Hitachi and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, intend to join, according to Nvidia.

But domestic sales, the bulk of DeRucci’s business, are shrinking amid a yearslong real-estate downturn in China. People aren’t buying as many homes, so there is less demand for furniture.

The global economy suddenly finds its energy supplies threatened on three fronts simultaneously: the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea and the Black Sea. The world goes into these disruptions with the lowest levels of oil reserves in years.
Conflict in the Middle East broadened this week with Tehran-backed Houthi militants turning tankers back from the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. The Red Sea maritime chokepoint, which has become the biggest export route for Saudi Arabia’s crude following the Strait of Hormuz closure, accounted for roughly 12% of the world’s seaborne oil flows before the war.
Another disruption: Ukraine has mounted sustained attacks on Russian energy infrastructure and ships in the Black Sea.

Take the market’s closely watched “fear gauge.” The Cboe Volatility Index, or VIX, uses options prices to get a rough measure of how much choppiness investors expect in the S&P 500 index in the coming 30 days. At 17.5, it’s below the index’s long-term average.
But look at how much traders are paying to hedge against big moves up or down in individual stocks and a totally different picture emerges. That can be seen from a related measure, VIXEQ, which is above 50.
