President Donald Trump announced investment agreements with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates worth more than $2 trillion for projects in defense, aviation and artificial intelligence, among other ventures during his trip this week to the Middle East, where he was joined by dozens of prominent business executives who took part in the deals.
In addition to Musk, billionaires including OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Palantir’s Alex Karp, BlackRock’s Larry Fink, and Blackstone’s Steve Schwarzman attended the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum. Schwarzman and Musk also sat with Trump and the emir of Qatar at a state dinner.

A few weeks ago, I wrote a column about tools to scrub your information from websites. I received many emails from readers who asked: “What about my data that’s on the dark web?”
This hidden part of the internet is where criminals exchange illegally obtained data, such as passport details, passwords and Social Security numbers--including mine, I recently discovered. The above pricing, provided by cybersecurity company NordVPN, gives you a sense of how marketable your data can be following a hack.

Consumer prices rose 3.5% in April compared with a year earlier, the highest rate of inflation since January 2024 and up from the 2.6% of March this year, the U.K.’s Office for National Statistics said Wednesday.
Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal expected 3.4%. The jump from March was the largest increase in annual inflation since October 2022.
The inflation rate was well above the BOE’s 2% target, and more than a percentage point higher than in the U.S. and the eurozone.

U.S. President Donald Trump's administration revoked Harvard University's ability to enroll international students on Thursday, and is forcing existing students to transfer to other schools or lose their legal status, while also threatening to expand the crackdown to other schools.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem ordered the department to terminate Harvard University’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program certification, the department said in a statement. Noem accused the university of "fostering violence, antisemitism, and coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party."
In 2022, Chinese nationals made up the biggest population of foreign students with 1,016, university figures show.

I don’t speak Spanish, but there I was, chattering away like I had spoken it my entire life.
I was testing a new real-time translator coming to Google Meet video chats. The results, while not perfect, show how good AI is getting at processing language and mimicking human emotion.
It isn’t just that the translator turns your words into another language. It emulates your voice and tone, translating with a few seconds of lag. The effect is like watching an overdubbed foreign-language speaker on a news broadcast-but the voice-over is created by AI in the speaker’s same voice.
