India said it conducted military strikes on nine sites in Pakistan in retaliation for a deadly militant attack on tourists in Kashmir, intensifying a confrontation between the nuclear-armed neighbors.
The Indian defense ministry said its forces carried out strikes on camps terrorists have used to stage attacks against India, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

Chinese companies produce large quantities of the chemicals known as “precursors.” These are sold over the internet, flowing from China to criminal groups in Mexico and elsewhere that produce fentanyl and traffic it into the U.S.

The Federal Reserve’s incoming top banking cop is seeking to review the confidential ratings for the health of large banks, after criticizing the fact that two-thirds of the biggest institutions were deemed unsatisfactory last year.
The ratings score a bank’s safety and soundness based on capital, liquidity and governance and controls. A poor supervisory rating can open the door to other penalties, such as enforcement actions, and bar a bank from mergers and acquisitions or any new activities.
